On March 29, 2025, Mr Wang Fengzhong, Chinese Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Perth, accompanied by Consul Zhao Hongtao, attended the 2025 CLTAWA State Chinese Background Students Story Telling Competition hosted by Chinese Language Teachers’ Association of Western Australia(CLTAWA), delivered an opening speech, and presented awards to the winning students. CLTAWA president Ms Liao Jia, primary and secondary school contestants, teachers and students, parents, and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Modern Language Teachers’Association of Western Australia attended the event.
On behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Perth, Mr Wang extended his sincere respects and thanks to CLTAWA members, WA government officials, principals,teachers, volunteers, and all the friends for their valuable support and significant contribution to the promotion of Chinese language and cultrue in WA, hoping they will continue to work together and contribute to further strengthen the educational and cultural exchanges between China and Western Australia, as well as between China and Australia.
37 contestants, aged from 6 years to 15 years old, were divided into "junior group" and "senior group". Their vivid telling of fables, fairy tales, idiom stories, folk stories or self-written stories in Chinese won bursts of warm applause.
