各位同胞,大家晚上好.很高兴与大家共同庆祝我们的传统佳节--春节.我谨代表中国驻珀斯总领馆给大家拜年,祝福各位同胞在牛年身体健康,阖家欢乐,吉祥如意!

The year of 2020 has tested all of us. The sudden onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc across the world. Global public health faced severe threat and the world economy was mired in deep recession. Humanity encountered multiple crises rarely seen in human history.

Over the past year, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China and the painstaking efforts of the whole country and society, China overcame the impact of the pandemic, and made great achievements in coordinating prevention and control and in economic and social development. China is the first major economy worldwide to achieve positive growth, and its GDP in 2020 stepped up to a new level of 100 trillion yuan(15.51 trillion US dollars). China also achieved decisive success in eradicating extreme poverty, which has lifted 850 million people, about 70 percent of the world's poor, out of poverty since reform and opening-up began in the late 1970s.

Over the past year, the Chinese people stood with the world in fighting the pandemic. During the most challenging time of China's battle against COVID-19, 77 countries, including Australia and 12 international organizations extended us a helping hand. When the virus hit other parts of the world, China cooperated closely with the World Health Organization and the international community, and launched the largest global emergency humanitarian campaign in its history. China provided assistance to over 150 countries and 13 international organizations, sent 36 medical expert teams to countries in need to help bring the world together in defeating the virus, and stayed strongly supportive and actively engaged in international cooperation on COVID vaccines.

Over the past year, the Chinese and Western Australian people supported each other and held on together during the pandemic. The Chinese Consulate General in Perth has also joined hands with WA in both epidemic control and economic recovery. We are delighted to see that Western Australia is the only state in Australia to achieve positive economic growth and budget surplus.

Dear Friends,

After a year of hardship, we can understand more than ever the significance of a community with a shared future for mankind. The recent emergency lockdown of Perth reminds us the pandemic is far from over, we must carry on the fight. We must join hands and support each other to early dispel the gloom of the pandemic and strive for a better life for our peoples.

The year 2021 marks the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Going forward, China will continue to promote institutional opening-up that covers rules, regulations, management and standards, and foster a new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other. China will continue to create a business environment that is based on market principles, governed by law and up to international standards, and unleash the potential of the huge China market and enormous domestic demand. We hope these efforts will bring more cooperation opportunities to other countries and give further impetus to global economic recovery and growth.

As we bid farewell to the past year, I hope that, in the Year of the Ox, ACBC WA, CCCA Perth Branch and the member companies as well as friends from all walks of life in WA will continue to lend their helping hands to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and WA and play a greater role in bringing China-Australia relationship back on the right track.

Oxen are known for their diligence and strength in both Eastern and Western cultures. The Year of the Ox will be a year of hard work and harvest. In this new year, I would like to again express best regards to all of you and all friends in Western Australia. I wish you a healthy, joyous and prosperous Year of the Ox.

祝大家牛运亨通!

Thanks.
