Big Gold Mountain is a story of Chinese migrants from Guangdong Province came into the Bendigo goldfields and settled there in the 1850s. The play vividly reflects the bitter history of early Chinese migrants and commends their great contribution to the early development of Australia. All audience, some old Australian Chinese in particular, were deeply touched by the fascinating story and the actors' brilliant performance.

The play is written by WA playwright Mr. Russel Roberts and directed by Mr. John Aitken. All the cast are a new breed of oversea Chinese actors and were only given four and a half days to prepare rehearse, whereas they made a great success.

The play will rehearse several more times from now on. It is sponsored by Stages WA and will make tour performance in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth etc.
