On 5 March 2026, Consul-General Fu Lihua attended the 2026 Chinese New Year reception hosted in Perth by Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney. The event was hosted by Mr Ricky Chong, Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney, and was attended by Hon Dan Caddy, MLC, representing the Premier of Western Australia; Councillor Viktor Ko, representing the Lord Mayor of the City of Perth; over 100 representatives from the business, education and other sectors; and Hong Kong expatriates living in Western Australia.

In her remarks, Consul-General Fu extended Chinese New Year greetings to the guests, briefed on relations and cooperation between China and Western Australia. She stated that with the full support of the Central Government, Hong Kong enjoys social stability, steady economic growth and continuously consolidated status as an international financial, shipping and trade center. Solid progress has been made in developing Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub. She highlighted the strong complementarity and broad cooperation prospects between Western Australia and Hong Kong, encouraged people from all sectors in Western Australia to actively engage in exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong, and expressed Chinese Consulate-General’s readiness to provide high quality consular service wherever there is need.
Prior to the reception, Consul-General Fu held a meeting with Director Ricky Chong, exchanged views on the cooperation between Hong Kong and Western Australia.
