On March 7, 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Perth held New Year Reception for WA Chinese International Students. Over 100 guests were present, including WA Chinese international students, faculty staff and scholars.

In her speech, Consul General Fu introduced the key topics of China’s Two Sessions 2026 and reflected upon China’s development achievements. She also briefed on China-Australia relations especially China-WA cooperation, and encouraged Chinese international students to cultivate a deep sense of patriotism, promote mutual understanding between China and Australia and defend their lawful rights, so as to integrate individual progress with the Chinese path to modernization.
Professor with Murdoch University, Mr. Li Chengdao, representing WA Chinese researchers and scholars, and Professor with Edith Cowan University, Mr. Li Jianxin, representing WA Chinese faculty staff, introduced their experience in studying abroad and encouraged Chinese international students to focus on career prospects, strengthen scientific innovation capabilities and pursue industry-oriented science application. Representative of WA Chinese international students, President of UWA Chinese Students and Scholars Association, Mr. Yuan Siyuan, and others echoed by underlining their devotion to China-WA cooperation in education, scientific research and people-to-people exchanges, and contributing their knowledge and gains to the prosperity of their motherland.

The reception included as well an online interaction between Chinese international students with Shanghai Counter-Telecommunication-and-Online-Fraud Squad.
