On 23 May 2026, Consul-General Fu Lihua attended and delivered a speech at the First “Tea for Harmony · Western Australia International Tea Day” event. Over 100 people including Mr. Ron Sao MLA, representing Premier Cook and Hon Dr. Tony Buti, Minister for Multicultural Interests,Mr. Basil Zempilas MLA, Leader of the Opposition,Mr. Bruce Reynolds, Lord Mayor of the City of Perth; representatives from the consular corps, officials from state and local governments, and members of various cultural communities , attended the event.

Consul-General Fu stated that tea embodies the values of “harmony in diversity and coexistence through mutual respect” ,which closely align with the principles that different civilizations should respect each other, embrace inclusiveness and coexistence, engage in exchanges and mutual learning, and pursue common development. Fu noted that this event will contribute greatly to promoting the multicultural development in WA.
Mr. Ron Sao stated that tea represents inclusiveness and harmony, serving as a bridge to connect Western Australia’s multicultural communities and promoting people-to-people understanding.

The event was hosted by the WA Chung Wah Association and organized by the Australia Chinese Women’s Business Association, showcasing tea ceremonies and cultural performances from Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Arab and other cultural communities, which were warmly received by the audience.
