On May 22, 2026, Deputy Consul General Wang Fengzhong attended and delivered a speech at the Council transition ceremony of the Western Australia Guangdong Association and Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 guests attended the event, including Hon.Pierre Yang MLC, Ms. Sook Yee Lai MLA, Mr. Sam Lim MP, newly elected President of the Guangdong Association Li Hancheng, new members of the Council as well as community leaders from the Chinese community.

Deputy Consul General Wang stated that since its establishment, the Western Australia Guangdong Association has actively promoted practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Western Australia, carried forward the best of traditional Chinese culture, and fostered a harmonious local Chinese community. He expressed hope that under the leadership of new President Li, the new council would continue carrying forward the fine tradition of unity and cooperation, serving fellow members of the community, leveraging its strengths in connecting China and Australia, promoting Chinese cultureand acting as a bridge for mutual understanding and friendly cooperation between China and WA.

Li stated that the Guangdong Association has long been committed to integrating into local society, serving the community, and making contributions to the multicultural and harmonious development of WA. He added that he will lead the new council in building on past achievements and delivering even greater accomplishments in the future.
