Premier Li Keqiang Addresses Dinner of China-India Business Cooperation Summit Stressing to Give Play to Complementary Advantages and to Keep Expanding China-India Trade and Investment
On May 21 local time, Premier Li Keqiang attended and addressed the Dinner of the China-India Business Cooperation Summit in Mumbai. He encouraged the business communities of China and India to expand cooperation to benefit both peoples.
Li Keqiang said, as the two largest developing countries, China and India will give the world a surprise by the way of deepening cooperation and achieving common development. For China-India cooperation, the largest stage is at the economy, the greatest potential is in the market, and the major players are the businesses. The businesses of the two countries bear great responsibility of continuing to expand the scale of China-India trade and investment, to uplift the level of cooperation. The key is in your hands.
Li Keqiang said, it is a unique advantage of China and India that we each owns a huge market with a population of over one billion. But the trade and investment level of the two countries is now incompatible with their economic scale and the requirement of bilateral relations. However, that big gap indicates at the same time that we have enormous potential and vast space for cooperation. During my visit, with Indian national leaders, we have further expanded strategic consensus and enhanced strategic mutual trust. Based on this, the relevant departments of the two governments will soon start consultations and their work for new measures to create a fair and just environment for businesses to explore each other's market and to expand investment to each other. China and India enjoy a profound traditional friendship, with touching stories of Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis and the sincerity between each other tested by time. We now have every reason to join hands to carry out cooperation more closely.
Li Keqiang said, China and India should develop our economic and trade relations from an overall perspective, and only the entrepreneurs with long-term and broad vision can seize the opportunities. Deepening China-India cooperation can not only help entrepreneurs accomplish their causes, but also will create opportunities for the economic growth of Asia and the world .
To conclude, Li Keqiang stressed that, India and China, having created splendid civilizations in the past, today joining hands and looking into the future, we can definitely produce great new miracles.
Li Keqiang also met with Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Pradesh the same day,
