Between September 5 and 9, 2026, Consul General Fu Lihua had a consular inspection tour to Christmas Island (CI), an overseas territory of Australia, accompanied by Ms. Yang Xiuqing, Consul, and Mr. Zhang Bolong, Vice-Consul. Mr. Yuan Haobo, President of WA Chung Wah Association, Mr. Lai Ah Hong, President of CI Resident Association, Mr. Eddie Kwah, WACCC Life Member and etc joined the tour.

Consul General Fu paid courtesy calls on Ms. Farzian Zainal, Administrator of Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands, and Mr. Steven Pereira, President of Shire of Christmas Island. She briefed them on China’s development achievements, the policies and concepts underneath, and CI Chinese community’s significant contributions to local progress and people-to-people links of China and Australia.

Ms. Zainal and Mr. Pereira praised CI Chinese community’s contributions and expressed commitment to promoting the CI tradition of multiculturalism and advancing long-term development with solidarity among islanders.

Consul General Fu’s tour featured as well profound exchanges with local Chinese community, visits to CI Prosphate, Green Space Tech, Christmas Island District High School, Chinese Literary Association Museum. She also paid respects to the ancestors at the Chinese Cemetery.
